WELCOME to MINTOFF GARAGES |
Hi and welcome to 'MINTOFF Garages', a 'SLOT' Car page. It all started way back in the sixties, you see my dad, bought me a 'Train set'. But I did not want a train set, I wanted a 'SCALEXTRIC', As time went by, and me never playing with the 'Train Set' (Ungrateful little BRAT, as my parents used to say), my dad gave in and sold the 'Train set' and bought me a 'Scalextric, a year later, yes you guessed it, Christmas present. I was over the moon, with gratitude; I think that was the only time I was over the moon.
So, now that I have a Scalextric, aged about 11 I set about being the greatest F1 driver on our street in Manchester. Not only that, I started to play with the cars. I would build them myself, from scratch, which I did. Rewind the motors, build the Chassis, buy the clear bodies and paint them, I even tried to cast wheels from melted down 'Milk bottle tops.' you could say I was well into 'Slot cars!' |
Boys become 'MEN', and that was that. Not sure when it happened, but 'Slot cars' fell by the way side. Wine, Woman and song took over. A few years back, I meet a guy, who has a hobby, yes, you have guessed it. 'Scalextric', now this brought back all them childhood memories flooding back, so I started to get my son interested, and away from his PS2, DS & TV. I now have a son, and we will play with Slot cars together. The two photos above are the collection we have at present, and as time goes by the photos above will change.
